Find Non-Profit Help Locally:
Really? Recent evidence confirms that homelessness among families is increasing. A survey of 25 U.S. cities found that in 2000, families with children accounted for 36% of the homeless population (U.S. Conference of Mayors, 2000), with requests for emergency shelter by families with children increasing an average of 17% from previous the year.

Pacific Financial
With a long-standing belief that giving something back to the community is as important as making a profit, Pacific Financial is involved with a number of charitable organizations, and has recently partnered with HomeAid to launch a new Cause Related Marketing program that will begin this year. The program will encourage involvement from companies that are involved in the building industry, and will also target peripheral industries. Dave Elder, Business Development Manager for Pacific Financial, will be spearheading the effort on behalf of Pacific Financial. "This is the perfect marriage of business and philanthropy. Since we already work with many companies in the industry, it just made sense for us to get involved." On a recent visit to Casa Pacifica and RAIN, two projects that were sponsored by HomeAid, Elder said that his commitment to help grow the organizations influence was greatly increased. "When I saw the impact that these projects have on the lives of the people who need them, I was compelled to take action. It’s very moving."
Located in Calabasas, Ca. Pacific Financial is a full service mortgage company that has been serving the builder community and the general public for over 10 years. As with many mortgage companies, the last two years have shown an increase in refinance business, but Bill Moran, President of Pacific Financial, views this as just another cycle, and keeps his eye on the future. "Developing long term relationships with builders, realtors, and our current customer base has enabled us to avoid focusing all of our energy on the refinance frenzy that has capitalized the mortgage industry for the last two years" says Moran. "Sure we handle re-fi’s when we get them, but the cornerstone of our business model is to develop and maintain business relationships that will be here today and tomorrow." Pacific Financials’ success comes from proposing innovative programs that help builders retain buyers, rather than just moving on to the next buyer when the first one does not qualify. "We maintain a high capture rate, but it’s not magic. It’s all about working hard to provide good service and to create programs that make sense for both the buyer and the builder."
